This morning the following news came up on Retures:The European competition commission is gearing up to charge Google with giving unfair prominence to its own apps like search and maps in supplementary software licensing deals it strikes with mobile phone makers running its Android operating system, four sources familiar with the process said on Monday. If the EU were to find Google guilty of market abuse it could lead to a fine of up to $7.4 billion or 10 percent of 2015 revenue, while forcing it to change its business practices. I can't say that I've never seen such news before. European Anti-trust is always aiming to get a huge fine from giants, especially tech giants. Do you remember the same case last year? It was the main reason:The European Commission's main complaint with Google involves the way it favors its own search results above competitors'. The most relevant links are not always listed first on Google. It looks suspicious, doesn't it? So, to be clear here: European Anti-trust commission last year tried to blame Google that sponsored ads come up ahead of the most valuable and appropriate sources. I have a simple answer to those guys from this commission - if you don't like Google, simply don't use it. If you want to find the best watches or jeans - try to search somewhere else. I bet that you will not find anything better than google so you'll come back to it anyway. Why are you trying to blame the company that helps you all the time? The new issue is about the apps. EU Anti-trust is going to fight against the pre-installed apps. I think that they can get a significant support from Android users, but anyway, $7.4B fine is too much. And I am pretty sure that Google will never pay it.
